Kestrel's Nest

Welcome!

Welcome to Kestrel's Nest! The web site of Angela Grant, sometimes known as Kestrel. Feel free to have a look round. I hope you find something to interest you. The site is growing all the time so if you don't find what you're looking for now, come back again sometime!

I've recently successfully completed both MPhil and DPhil Degree Courses in Celtic Studies at Jesus College, Oxford. The MPhil course involved learning to read medieval Welsh and Irish tales and poetry in the original texts. You'll find in this area some of my translations and essays and some of the original texts with which I have been working. In the DPhil course I wrote a thesis on the extraordinary history of John Gwenogvryn Evans whose diplomatic copies of medieval Welsh manuscripts I often consulted during the MPhil.

I've done a lot of research on the Ridgway group of partnerships and am in the process of assembling a database of patterns for each of the factories concerned. For further information see the new and separate Ceramics website.

If you're interested in coins and their history I've studied the subject since my schooldays and I have the honour to be both President of the Oxford Numismatic Society (Oxford City), and Vice President of the Oxford University Numismatic Society (The Phoenix Society). My main interests are medieval and worldwide. Have a look at the Numismatics pages for information on this subject, or better still, have a look at the OUNS website where many coins are illustrated.

I'm following a Animistic path so if you're interested in Animism, Paganism, Divination or things esoteric, and how I feel these matters apply to daily life, you may find something in the Animism pages.

I used to write poetry, though latterly I only seem to write prose. Some of the poetry is about Pagan stuff but some themes are more general. Maybe you will find things to connect with in the Poetry pages.

Perhaps you are more in tune with the few Stories I have written.

I decided to drop out of a MSc/Diploma course in Integrative Psychotherapy. If you're interested in my thoughts on the subject try the Psychotherapy page.

If you want to know more about me see the About Me page.
